Bawa Muhaiyaddeen(ra)

Islamic Realization Society

Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (ra) Islamic Realization Society has been formed by the disciples of Hadhrat Bawa MR Muhaiyaddeen (ra), the noble Sufi Shaikh from Sri Lanka (Demise December 8th, 1986). This website is established primarily to extend the great spiritual insight of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (ra), his awareness of the spiritual reality of the universe and the spiritual way to create balance between the finite and infinite.

The writings of Sufi Rehman Muhaiyaddeen, one of the disciples of Hadhrat Bawa (ra), are part of this site to introduce incredible inner revolution in man. Islamic Realization Society aspires to promote the Sufi way of Divine deliverance through purity, refined character, devotional meditation and obedience of Allah(swt). To be able to breathe a new spirit in the world and change attitudes and perceptions; It's vital to get inspiration from the force and light of Sufi tradition in Islam.

Sufism in Islam

Tasawwuf or Sufism in Islam offers a humble and devotional way to reach to the Divine reality – Allah(swt). Love is the most prominent tool that leads to the goal. That's why the main goal of Sufism in Islam is the desire to arrive to Allah(swt) - Meet Allah. The seeker to Allah (salik) through his/her meditations, spiritual struggles and practices aims to witness the Divine reality (mushahida/ wisal) hence making that the ultimate ambition of his/her life.

Sufism in Islam has three prime features:

• Absolute love
• Absolute Divine consciousness
• Absolute unison

Sufism in Islam has three fundamental teachings:

• Divine Love through Dhikr, meditation & prayers
• Development of personal character
• Unconditional love and service to rest of humanity – universe

The prime objective of Sufism in Islam is not merely to enhance spiritual capabilities and to give rise to a political structure but Sufism explores out Divine wisdom from the unison experience of the inner soul with the Supreme Reality of the universe (Allah(swt)). The teachings of Hadhrat Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (ra) emphasize on the process of self realization to really grasp the Divine wisdom in the Holy Quran. Since Allah(swt) has promised to reveal the inner meaning of the Holy Quran to Al Muttaqeen (those who have gone through the process of self realization). The Sufi teachings in Islam explain that Quranic vision is not based on ruling the worldly life but to lead a dignified life by making a strong spiritual bond with the Supreme Reality of the universe and with rest of the universe.

In this regard a true seeker and a sincere devotee of the Divine wisdom begins to love Allah(swt) and His creation and does not discriminate between color, race or religion. Actually the first lesson of the Sufi teachings is that all creation originates from Allah(swt) and therefore is in the family of Allah(swt). In the words of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): "to see Creation as God's family". Sufi thought proclaims, "When love kindles, all conflicts end". The explanation of these words is that love always generates from a healthier mind which initiates a complete process of positive energies to make it a vicious cycle. This can lead to a social phenomenon throgh which the human creation would eventually work towards building and nurturing constructive relationships. Hence, any social phenomenon based upon love should ultimately lead to peace, not negate or work against peace.

The dargahs and Khanqahs representing centuries old Sufi tradition, are open to everyone regardless of caste, creed, faith, age, or gender, twenty-four hours a day. The dargahs of the Sufi saints was the refuge of the lowliest, humble, and oppressed people of the land. While the Muslim priestocracy preached the supremacy of Islam, the religion of the conquerors, the Sufis demonstrated their love and acceptance of people of all faiths
